What is a picosecond?

A picosecond is a unit of time equal to one trillionth of a second, or 0.000000000001 seconds. It is commonly used in scientific and engineering fields to measure very short timescales such as the duration of light pulses or electronic signals. Picoseconds are also used in laser technology, where extremely short laser pulses are used for precision manufacturing and medical applications. To put it into perspective, a picosecond is to a second what a second is to 31.71 years.
